About Katrina

Katrina is a Counselling Psychologist with twenty-five years’ experience working alongside individuals, couples, children and families in Australia and the UK.

Her counselling practice focuses on relationships (with self and others) which we know are the foundation for a fulfilled and satisfying life and also the backdrop of a great deal of drama and distress from time to time.

She works with individuals, couples and organisations who want the best for themselves, their partners and workplaces, want to resolve emotional situations and develop and reach their potential.

My Background

I completed my Masters in Counselling Psychology at Curtin University back in 1993 and 1994 after completing my Psychology degree in 1990. I started in community development with migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds. After a couple of years I decided that counselling was the direction I wanted to pursue which meant more study. I still have such fond memories of my time in the Programme and the lecturers and supervisors who influenced my development as a psychologist.

My ongoing development has included further training in various therapeutic models, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Re-processing), trauma, bereavement and couples counselling.

3 Couples Counselling

The initial session is for both of you together. I will then meet with you each for an individual session as part of the assessment process. All subsequent sessions are together. I encourage couples to allow for the couples counselling to occur on a fortnightly basis, at least. There will, most likely, be times when this isn't possible, but generally it's important that the momentum is maintained to ensure you get the most possible value from the process. It is possible to meet weekly, availability depending, if you would prefer. Please let me know if you have any other questions including an outline of how I approach couples counselling. Couples counselling may be rebatable under your private health insurance, if relevant. Please check this with your provider. Medicare (Mental Health Care Plans) does not provide rebates for couples counselling.
